How to use the Minecraft stack calculator

Select a Minecraft item and enter the number you need. The calculator divides that total by the item's maximum stack size, then shows full stacks, loose items, occupied slots, shulker boxes, single chests and double chests.

Use Stacks to items when you already counted stacks in-game. Use Material list for a large survival build, farm output buffer or storage room containing several item types.

The item selector and automatic stack limits use the Java 26.2 registry, including established items from older releases. The arithmetic itself works for Java 1.8, 1.12, 1.16, 1.20, 1.21, 26.x, Bedrock and modded servers; choose Custom when the stack limit differs from current Java.

How many items are in a stack in Minecraft?

Most items stack to 64. Some items such as ender pearls, eggs, snowballs, signs and banners stack to 16, while tools, armor and other non-stackable items use one slot each.

How many stacks fit in a shulker box?

A shulker box has 27 slots and therefore holds 27 full stacks. With a stack size of 64, one shulker box holds 1,728 items.

How many items fit in a double chest?

A double chest has 54 slots. When every slot holds 64 items, its maximum capacity is 3,456 items.

Does this work for 16-stack and non-stackable items?

Yes. Choose the item to detect its vanilla limit, select 64, 16 or 1 manually, or enter a custom stack size for a modded server.

Can I calculate several building materials together?

Yes. Open Material list, add each block or item with its quantity, and the tool totals the occupied slots, chests and shulker boxes.

Does it work with older Minecraft versions?

Yes. The calculation works with legacy and current versions, including Java 1.8, 1.12, 1.16, 1.20, 1.21 and 26.x. Automatic limits follow the Java 26.2 registry, so use Custom when an older, Bedrock or modded server uses a different limit.
