One block, full state control
Use /setblock when you need exactly one tile: a torch, chest, stairs, light block, or fluid source. This tool exposes the block registry and the states that apply to the selected block so you do not hand-type bracket syntax.
Modes match the wiki: replace (default), destroy, keep, and strict. Block state dropdowns list only properties known for that block; leave them unset to omit them from the command.
For whole rooms and terrain swaps, switch to the /fill generator. It uses the same block picker and state controls for a two-corner region.
Searchable block registry
Pick from 1000+ placeable blocks by name or id.
Dynamic states
Lava shows level, stairs show facing/half/shape, fire shows age and faces — the same class of control advanced generators provide.
Mode + NBT
destroy/keep/replace/strict plus optional block-entity data for chests and command blocks.
setblock modes
replace - Quiet swap, no drops (default).
destroy - Break the previous block and drop it.
keep - Only succeed if the target is air.
strict - Place without normal neighbor updates.
How to use this tool
- Enter the coordinates.
- Select a block and set states as needed.
- Pick a mode, then copy the command.
/setblock FAQ
Why do some blocks show no states?
Many simple blocks have no properties. Fluids, stairs, slabs, doors, and lights usually do.
What is unset?
The property is not written into the command. Minecraft applies the default for that property.
Can I fill a wall with this?
No. /setblock is one position. Use /fill for a region.
