Java 26.3 Snapshot 6 - ExperimentalJAVA EDITION

Minecraft Post Effect Command Generator

Build the new /posteffect add, remove, clear, and list commands for vanilla screen shaders or post effects supplied by a resource pack.

Generated command

/posteffect add @s minecraft:blur

1. Choose an action

2. Choose a post effect

3. Choose the target

Snapshot warning: The command is available for testing in Java 26.3 snapshots and may change before release. It does not work in Java 26.2 or Bedrock Edition.
Why there is no browser preview

Post effects render inside the Minecraft client and can be replaced by resource packs. A browser mockup would not reliably match the game, so this tool validates and generates the command instead of showing a misleading preview.

Current action

Add applies the selected post effect if it is not already active.

What is the Minecraft /posteffect command?

/posteffect is an experimental Java Edition command introduced in the 26.3 snapshot cycle. It controls full-screen post-processing effects separately from potion and status effects. Use add or remove for one effect, clear to remove all of them, and list to inspect what is active on a player.

Vanilla Snapshot 6 includes blur, creeper, entity_outline, invert, and spider post effects. Resource packs can provide additional namespaced definitions under assets/<namespace>/post_effect. These resources live on the client, so the server cannot know whether a requested effect will actually be applied.

Add and remove one effect

Choose a vanilla or custom ID, then generate /posteffect add or /posteffect remove for one player. Add does nothing when that effect is already active, and remove does nothing when it is absent.

Clear and inspect

Clear removes all post effects from the player. List reports active post effects without changing them.

Resource-pack IDs

Custom effects use namespace:path IDs. Every affected client needs an active resource pack containing the matching post-effect JSON.

Always-on effects are separate

A resource pack can define minecraft:end_of_frame as an always-on post effect. It runs before command-added effects and cannot be controlled with /posteffect.

Snapshot-safe labeling

The page labels 26.3 Snapshot 6 as experimental and does not imply compatibility with the current Java 26.2 release or Bedrock Edition.

Using post effects safely

Test snapshot commands in a disposable world or development server. Make sure every affected player has the required resource pack before using custom IDs, and keep a clear command ready when testing intense visual effects.

Post effects change screen rendering, not entity attributes. Use /effect for Speed, Strength, Night Vision, and other gameplay effects; use /posteffect only for post-processing shaders.

Post Effect Command Questions

Does /posteffect work in Java 26.2?

No. It is an experimental command from the Java 26.3 snapshot cycle. Use a matching snapshot and expect details to change before a stable release.

Is /posteffect the same as /effect?

No. /effect changes status effects such as Speed or Poison. /posteffect controls full-screen client rendering effects.

Can I use a custom post effect?

Yes, when the client resource pack supplies the matching namespaced definition. Enter its namespace:path ID in the custom field.

How do I stop every active post effect?

Generate /posteffect clear for the intended player or selector. Remove is for one selected effect, while clear removes all active post effects.
