A Java data pack is a zip (or folder) with pack.mcmeta and a data/ tree (minecraft.wiki Data pack). This studio is a multi-file editor: functions, loot tables, recipes, advancements, predicates, item modifiers, block/item/entity tags, and the critical #minecraft:load / #minecraft:tick hooks under data/minecraft/tags/function/ (or plural folders on pre-1.21 formats).

The starter pack includes a setup function, load tag, sample loot table, recipe, advancement, predicate, item modifier, and item tag so a downloaded zip is a complete, reloadable project, not an empty skeleton.

Pre-1.21 presets use plural folder names (functions, loot_tables, recipes, …). Schema-heavy editing can still use Recipe, Loot, Advancement generators, then Import into this pack. Recipe · Loot · Advancement

FAQ

Is this only a starter skeleton?

No. You get a multi-file pack: functions, tags, loot, recipe, advancement, predicate, item modifier, plus pack.mcmeta and zip download. Expand any JSON for production.

Why is load under data/minecraft/?

Wiki Function tags: #minecraft:load only exists if the tag file is in the minecraft namespace. A tag under your pack namespace creates #mypack:load, which does not auto-run on /reload.

Can I add every registry type?

Common pack types are in Add file. Worldgen and experimental registries are better authored with dedicated schema tools (e.g. Misode) then imported as JSON.

Binary structures?

Structure files are .nbt binaries from structure blocks. The studio adds a path placeholder note; drop the real .nbt into the unzipped pack.

Are files uploaded?

No. Editing and zip generation run in your browser. Snapshots use localStorage only.
