Minecraft Java Edition 26.1 is the Tiny Takeover drop. Its player-facing changes include redesigned baby mobs, new baby sounds, craftable Name Tags and the Golden Dandelion. The Golden Dandelion can pause or resume the growth of supported baby mobs without requiring players to edit age data manually.
Use a Golden Dandelion
- Craft the flower from a Dandelion and Gold Nuggets.
- Use it on a supported baby mob. Downward green particles indicate that growth has paused.
- Use it on the same mob again to resume growth. Upward green particles confirm the change.
- Do not expect it to work on undead baby mobs or baby villagers, which are excluded from age locking.
Name Tags and technical pack changes
Name Tags are craftable in 26.1 with paper and a supported metal nugget. Technical creators should update packs against the exact release instead of changing a version label only. Java 26.1 uses data pack version 101 and resource pack version 84, and it includes changes to text component parsing and several tags.

How to test an updated command or pack
Create a temporary 26.1 world, enable commands and test the smallest output first. Confirm the item ID, tooltip and interaction in-game. For datapacks, run /reload and read the log. For resource packs, reload assets and check for missing textures before moving the files into an existing world.
